let's go to sleep with clearer heads and hearts too big to fit our beds

Not too much as happened but...
Thursday
-Went to Plex for breakfast after picking up new wildcard. They had lids for the take-out cups, which probably made me way more happy than it should have.
-Class, work and volunteering all went by quickly. It was a really nice day which made walking up to the theatre enjoyable.
-Grey's Anatomy was awesome. I'm getting really excited for the finale. Way behind on everything else besides The Office. Will wake up early tomorrow to watch the Brothers & Sisters finale (I'm the only person dorky enough to wake up early to watch a t.v. show)
Friday
-No Italian! And we got a good grade on our video project.
-Occupied free hour with a Kellogg study, so I don't feel as bad about having to pay to replace the wildcard.
-Work all afternoon.
-Hinman was overrun by high schoolers about 10 minutes before it closed. Kinda entertaining.
-Read some stats, uploaded some pictures and watched Legally Blonde The Musical
Saturday
-Finally saw The Overwhelming at Next. I was well, overwhelmed, but in a good way. The show has been extended until May 30th so everyone should go see it if they have the chance.
-Another quiet night. Worked on a story for NBN and then watched Legally Blonde (the movie this time). "Do you think she woke up one morning and said: I think I'll go to law school today."
-I go to sleep earlier on the weekends then I do during the week. Something feels wrong about that.
Sunday
-Mommy's day. I forgot to send a card earlier in the week so Jr. picked one up for me yesterday to make sure mom would have it on time. Called both her and the grandparents.
-Krisington entertained me with FMLs while I waited for the bus. I miss her.
-Took the Shop n' Ride to Target and bought a bike (mine is slightly different but I'm too lazy to downstairs and take an actual picture.)
-Rode back to CRC.
-NBN Entertainment meeting. Three more stories coming up in the next week or so.
-Won a beach chair at the AMC after reenacting The Wizard of Oz (with some help from Cassi =D)
-Decent showing at Smash Team including a match win.

And a quick poll: yay or nay to the new font? Back to trebuchet or try another?

the memories will wane, the aftershocks remain, you wonder which is worse: the symptom or the cure?

Picking up where we left off...
-Went to Highland Park High with Blake Thursday for the Jersey Boys event. John Michael Dias and Michael Ingersoll gave two really nice talks and it was fun talking with them afterwards.
-Came back to campus for a quick dinner and then it was off to meet Alex for Mary Poppins. I think I enjoyed the show even more this time around. Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee were fabulous.
-Kinda a blah, stressful weekend. The weather was nice but lots of video editing made it hard to get outside.
-Looked at four apartments on Sunday and agreed to the last one. It's pretty nice, not too expensive and I'll be living with Chris so that's all pretty exciting.
-I'm a new student week chair for next year with Billie and Matt =D Yay CRC
-Tony Award Nominations came out Monday. I'm excited about Next to Normal getting a little but disappointed not to see Aaron Tveit or Stephanie J. Block on the list. Rock of Ages and Shrek beating 9 to 5 for Best Musical is a bit of a head scratcher.
-Got grades back from last week and they were pretty much backwards from what I expected but whatever.
-Made the worst short film in the history of filmmaking for Italian. Professor seemed to like it though.
-Taylor Swift has two new videos and they are awesome (but that's to be expected). <3 The Best Day & You Belong With Me <3
-Somehow misplaced my Wildcard last night after dinner. Tore apart my room trying to find it to no avail. Now I'm out $15 in order to access the meals I've already paid for. At least I found my missing flash drive during the search.
-Cassi organized an awesome fireside last night with a psychologist who talked about "spreading good vibes." First day trying didn't go so well but there's always tomorrow.
-Finally upgraded the software on my iPod so I can have apps. Can already tell I will become even more easily distracted.
-Watched The Darjeeling Limited with cool people in the screening room.

i don't think that I'll close my eyes, 'cause lately i'm not dreamng, so what's the point in sleeping?

It's been longer than I intended since the last update so for that I apologize. The last few days were kinda tough so it's probably better than I didn't post--all you would've gotten was me grumbling about midterms, lav mics failing, sleepless nights and yet another cold (at least I haven't lost my voice this time). I've come to realize how annoying the quarter system really is (I took my first midterm the day my best friend went home for the summer)

But let's try not to focus on the bad. Some random happenings from the past week or so:
- The Red Sox won 11 games in a row, including a sweep of the Yankees. Bragged about it to Mr. Kenney through Jay, so the Tigers promptly lost two out of three games to the evil empire. Sadly, I can't see them going very far this year considering their bullpen. At least my tiger is doing well at the plate so far.
- I bought a bike lock. Now all I need is a bike. (Norris used bike sale = worthless)
- Grey's was back last week and really good. Brothers, not so much.
- I'll be able to work at the admissions office a couple days a week over the summer when I'm not at House. Yay for spending monies (or you know, rent and food).
-Smashed on Sunday night and did alright. Smashed today and did better (probably because it was unranked).
-Swine flu is apparently everywhere. Kinda scary.
- Tuesday I interviewed Rhiannon Hansen from the Legally Blonde National Tour. She was awesome and talking with her made me even more excited for the tour. I'll be going to the press night for NBN, which means I get to see the show twice in a five day period =)
-Tomorrow I'm going to interview some Jersey Boys after their workshop and performance at Highland Park High. And in the evening there'll be Jolly Holiday with Mary (and another review). I get to see Alex for the first time since Wicked closed (been missing it a lot lately) so that will be fun.
-9 to 5 opens tomorrow (or rather tonight I guess) and got a record breaking number of Drama Desk awards this week. Still plotting ways to get to NYC to see that and Next to Normal. Not getting very far.

there's nothing like the view from the cheap seats

I went to my first Cubs game last night. As a huge baseball fan, going to a game at Wrigley is something that I've always wanted to do. It was freezing cold but still an awesome night to spend with friends (with a couple of rather interesting detours). Plus the Cubs won 7-2, so that's always a good thing.

During the fourth inning a cat ran on to the field. There's a picture on my flickr stream (though it's a little hard to tell since are seats were pretty high up) and here's a video. Definitely the weirdest thing I've ever seen at a baseball game.

"make it about you"

I've been thinking about starting this blog for quite some time now. I recently came across my old livejournal and although I can no longer access the posts, you can take my word that they were pretty laughable.

Finding my old livejournal also reminded me how bad I was about updating. I once tried to turn the notes section of facebook into a mini blog but those posts ended quickly as well. I'll try to update pretty regularly but don't want to promise anything structured.

So who am I and what is this blog going to be about?

I am a freshman at Northwestern University majoring in journalism (somewhat begrudgingly at this point). I live in the best dorm on campus, work in the admissions office (and no David Marx I can't get you into the school you already attend) and write for the online newsmagazine. This summer I'll be staying in Evanston and interning at the House Theatre of Chicago and I couldn't be more excited.

My blog posts are going to be about a variety of things: theatre (especially musical), baseball, tv, music, movies, my new adventures in smashing, any pretty much anything else that's on my mind. I'll try not to complain about school too much (I'll leave that to my friend Chris) and generally try to make sure the posts have some sort of substance (but again, no promises).

(and just because I miss this old section of livejournal)
